How We Support You!
We create environments where Black mothers feel seen, heard, and valued. Through storytelling circles, conversations, and community gatherings, we provide spaces where experiences can be shared openly and without judgment.
We provide workshops, resources, and practical toolkits to help you navigate everyday challenges, access opportunities, and build confidence.
Your story matters. We create platforms that elevate your voice through research, publications, and storytelling initiatives that highlight your lived experiences.
We bring people together. Through programs, events, and partnerships, we foster a sense of belonging and connection within a supportive community.
Charis-Chara was created to ensure Black mothers have access to knowledge, support, and community as they navigate institutions that often overlook their realities. Our goal is to build spaces where Black mothers are supported, respected, and empowered.

“Programs like Charis-Chara are essential because they address the real barriers Black mothers face in institutions—legal, financial, healthcare, educational, and social. Providing culturally informed guidance can change lives.”
Petula Wilmot-Chambers
Registered Nurse, Peel Region
Charis-Chara is a much-needed support in our community as the voices of Black mothers from all over the world continue to be silenced and ignored in all the systems we navigate on a daily basis, regardless of socio-economic status. I can't wait for this program to get started. So many of my clients will have a safe space to access resources and support, as well as share knowledge of how to survive and change systems nationwide.

“Having trauma-informed, culturally responsive support available through Charis-Chara is incredibly important. Many Black mothers face systemic stressors, and programs like this provide the understanding and care that mainstream systems often overlook.”
Jai Neola Thomas
Registered Social Worker – Mental Health, Toronto
Charis-Chara recognises that mental health, social support, and access to resources are interconnected. This approach will help many Black mothers feel seen, supported, and empowered. The team is professional, culturally aware, and genuinely dedicated to uplifting families and strengthening the community. As part of the team, I highly recommend these programs and services to Black mothers seeking supportive, impactful resources.
